WHERE AND HOW CLASSROOM, INC. IS USED

  • Where We Work
A NYC-based organization, Classroom, Inc. does the majority of its work in large urban centers, but we also work in other areas across the country. Since 1991, our program has been in close to 1,000 sites in 20 states. We serve approximately 69,000 students a year. Current or recent partners include public schools in New York City, Newark, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, the District of Columbia, and Miami Dade County. Classroom, Inc. also works in a variety of unique settings, such as facilities for adjudicated youth, nonpublic schools, theme-based schools, and independent youth agencies.
  • How We Work
Our flexible program meets a variety of educational goals within different settings.

School Day: Our program addresses rigorous national standards. It is based on an instructional model designed to develop reading and writing skills. It helps all content-area teachers improve students’ literacy skills, while also fostering and reinforcing knowledge in mathematics, social studies, and science. Classroom, Inc. is successfully used in a variety of school-day settings, including during literacy blocks and in career and credit recovery classes.

Summer School: An ideal package for summer school, Classroom, Inc.’s virtual workplace and print curriculum can be readily customized to instructional blocks in literacy, math, and other content areas.

Credit Recovery: Our engaging program helps put high school students back on track to graduate by enabling them to earn needed credits in any of several content-areas. Students have gained credits towards graduation in school-day, after-school, and summer-school credit recovery programs.

Extended Day Programs: Supplementary educational opportunities are offered in a variety of settings, including school-based extended day and after school programs, programs taking place at community centers, and youth programs run outside of school hours. These settings are excellent venues for students to enjoy our virtual workplace-based program while progressing in literacy and core content areas.
